Gianna LeBron grew up in poverty. Destined to change her circumstances and her zip code, she rises up from the inner-city streets with an Ivy League education and affluent husband. A few short years later, she’s alone with three children, destitute and desperate.
Finding herself in the same hell she’d fought so hard to escape, and determined to find a solution, she compromises who she is. Selling her soul for the almighty dollar, she does what she has to do in order to provide for her children.
Caught between a secret love and her toddler’s unending need for medical care, Gianna’s forced to decide how far she’ll go to heal her daughter and save the man she loves.
For money. For health. For Jase.
FALLEN WOMAN: It kicks starts us off in the 'Prologue' here it sets the pace for the story how she went from rags to riches, and then back to rags again but with more at stake in the blink of an eye.
She grew up dirt poor, an absentee father, a mother who was burnt out, her only escape was making sure she studied hard and made something of herself, getting accepted in a prestigious college with a full academic scholarship helped aide in escaping her life. Marrying, and both earning good wages they never expected to be stung by the recession.
Her castle came falling down around her ears. Things took a turn for the worst, both lost their jobs, she was pregnant then the last straw was losing her husband.
Living in the projects, raising 3 children as a widow, with one child sick, she is just barely struggling to make ends meet, just when she thought life wouldn't throw her a life raft she lands a job barely paying minimum wage but it's enough to scrape by with rent, food and utilities.
Leaning on a grandmother like neighbour (Miss Pearl) whilst she works this surrogate grandmother figure takes the children under her wings and then making a new male friend at work in the mail centre things are slowly looking up.
These two strike up such an unusual friendship, he’s a wealthy business man and she’s white trash on the wrong side of the tracks, there's nothing he wouldn’t do to help her in anyway he possibly can. He then strikes up a plan amongst his friends that if they need a date to a black tie charity event etc they would hire her services for $500 a date. A fairy tale Pretty Woman. He swooped in like a knight in shining armor.
They all have a ton of money. I mean a ton of money, and they get used by woman looking for built in paychecks, not loyal husbands. So Jase asked if I'd be willing to accompany them to different functions to help keep women at bay.
He'd taken my heart and breathed life back into it like it was a balloon that needed inflating. He was my confidant, my friend, and holy hotness batman, just a beautiful man.
It seemed the perfect plan to keep vultures away from these eligible bachelors and helps her out at the same time, the plan seemed foolproof.
Until it wasn’t.
I didn’t expect to be drawn into the story as quick as I was, as soon as I jumped into the ‘Prologue’ I was invested in finishing this story, to say I was hooked was an understatement. Being a first time read by this author just sweetened the deal, she had me eating her words up page by page, chapter by chapter, I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a book as much as this one in a long time. I am definitely going on a one click spree today to grab others by this author.
