Seven years ago, I was one of the best in downhill mountain biking—a girl with grit, speed, and a shot at gold. But that was before my competitor’s brother sabotaged my bike, before the crash shattered my body and stole the future I’d spent my entire life chasing.
To beat him at his own game. To humiliate him in front of everyone who cheered when I fell. To prove that even broken, a girl like me was always better than him.
Broken Breath is a slow burn, instant spark, spicy, hurt/comfort, MMFM, why choose romance. It’s the first book in the Rogue Riders Duet and ends on a cliffhanger. For mature readers.

I really loved this “hidden girl” trope, the dynamics between Alaina and the boys, the sibling closeness, a rekindled crush, even though going into this having no knowledge about the overall competitiveness of mountain biking, the author broke it all down and made it easy to understand and follow, this was such an enjoyable read and it definitely won't be the last I read from this author. She held my focus throughout and I found myself so engrossed in the storyline, the outside world ceased to exist.
Once I'd seen that the second book had released this week and that this had been on my ipad since release day, I finally jumped in, I'm so glad I waited because even though I'd expected it and I was prepared with the next book to jump into that cliffy was kind of brutal. As it is she's duct taped up with a broken body, self medicating to ease the daily pain she endures, I'm dreading to see what's happened to her.
This was a slow moving, slow burn, high angst, kind of story, we're introduced to Alaina who was at the top of her league of downhill mountain biking in the women's division, now she's seeking vengeance after her bike was sabotaged and she was left broken and damaged after a fall which nearly killed her. But with seven years of grueling workouts she is now back on the circuit with her thirty-four year old brother Dane as her manager.
Even though twenty-four year old Alaina doesn't have any proof her bike was tampered with 7 years ago she knew her bike right down to each and every last bolt and realised before it was too late that something was wrong during her last jump that day, and her guess is that it leads right to Isaac Raine who was near her bike that fateful day, he'd touched it. Now she wants to take him down a few pegs by beating and humiliating him in the men’s elite league. But she can't do that as Alaina, but as Al, an unknown rookie that's come out of nowhere. Cutting her long hair, wearing a chest binder to hide her breasts, socks in her pants, and a voice which she deepens she's all set to get her revenge.
But she didn't factor the boys that try to get under her skin, she's drawn to them, but because they don't know she's under disguise she tries to keep her distance as much as she can. But these boys are relentless, walls get taken down, kisses get shared, and a crush she'd had back then on her brothers best friend kicks into overdrive, but here's the thing he knows who she is and he's the only one, those other two boys (French boy Luc and English boy Mason) they have no idea.
Mason keeps his head down, barely talks to anyone, and a rumor that follows him everywhere he goes. Four years ago, he lost everything, his reputation, his backing, his father was the only one who believed him and stood by his side. He needs to stat winning for his father.
Twenty-four year old Luc (the flying frenchman) is at the top of his game as the reigning champion, the fans love him.
And her long ago crush Fin, her brother's best friend, he's thirty four, who they call Grampa Greer because he's the oldest racing in the world cup.
I was supposed to race, take the win, and disappear before the truth caught up to me. But pain doesn’t let go—not when your lungs burn, your body won’t heal, and the pills barely keep you upright.
When the truth comes out, the people I have tried to keep at arm’s length will learn everything. They’ll see the cracks in my armor, the scars I tried to bury, the girl beneath the lies—will they walk away?
Twisted Trails is a slow burn, instant spark, spicy, hurt/comfort, MMFM, why choose romance. It’s the second book in the Rogue Riders Duet and is not a standalone. For mature readers.

Back to back baby, I'd just fallen over that cliffy in the previous book and this one will pull me over it, I really enjoyed the first book, the character building, the sizzling attraction, the brothers best friend trope, the hidden identity cast that hook and it pulled me in.

This went up a notch or two from the previous book, the heat factor was off the scales, the emotional turmoil this wrung out of me, like a yo-yo this author pulled at my heartstrings. There’s not a thing I would change about this book, this series, from front to back I loved every second, minute, hours I spent devouring it. I’m definitely going to try others by this author.
(“ She lied to the UCI, and she didn't tell us why that is. But she was real with me. Yeah maybe she didn't tell us she doesn't have a dick and gave me a full-blown sexuality crisis.”) -Luc
Alaina was such a fiesty strong relatable character, you couldn't help but be drawn to her, her revenge ran deep within her soul, but when it came to the crunch living ran deeper. I loved that for her. Her growth and strength shrone through every aspect of her being. That strong sibling bond had me by the heart from the get go. Dane was more of a father figure than her own father, but I'm glad her father slowly stepped up to the plate in the end. This book ticked so many boxes.
I loved the storyline, the boys, our feisty heroine, leaving me with a bittersweet feeling as I closed out of that last page. I can't even say I had a favourite out of the boys, they were all perfection in their own ways. It just worked..
