A new standalone dark romance coming from New York Timesand USA Today bestselling author Nicole Blanchard.

"John Doe" was just another patient. A criminal.

As a prison nurse, I knew the rules: do my job, don’t get involved, and never let a prisoner get under my skin.

I broke all three.

My passion, my obsession, my addiction. I risked my entire life so we could be together.

I thought helping him escape from prison would be the hard part.

It turns out when you fall in love with a villain, you also turn into one.

TOXIC: A standalone dark romance novel Nicole Blanchard.

Twenty-seven year old Tessa Emmerson RN, knew the rules, as a prison nurse she knew not to overstep the boundaries with the inmates at Blackthorne Correctional Institute that held high risk prisoners.

Do my job, don’t get involved, and never let a prisoner get under my skin.

Things aren’t the greatest in her personal life, where she’s suffocating on a daily basis, a husband that rules the roost with an iron fist, instead of showering her with love and devotion, he showers her with cruelty and bruises. What makes her situation more precarious is he has eyes everywhere, being the warden where she works, she’s on tenterhooks not just at work but at home too.

So when a prisoner (John Doe) aka thirty-five year old Gracin Kingsley shows her some form of affection that she craves all the above three rules are smashed to smithereens.

He’s the devil incarnate, the snake that tempted Eve.

When he’s signed to help her in the ward things get heated up between them fast.

My passion, my obsession, my addiction. I risked my entire life so we could be together.

Now fugitives on the run from the law..Both with blood on their hands.

It turns out when your life falls to pieces right before your eyes, it isn't with a bang. It's with a whisper.

Just a word of warning for some this book may cause triggers, spouse abuse, and is very much in your face, it's not glossed over.

This took me a while to get into, Tessa was a victim of domestic violence, no children so really there was nothing keeping her there within the relationship, no ties binding her to him so I found it hard connecting with her in the beginning and couldn't comprehend why she didn't get out of that situation sooner. It's not until she meets Gracin that she grows a backbone and we see her going from a wall flower to a spitfire with a tough inner bitch that doesn't take any more shit, and it was at this stage that I started connecting with her more.

Wild Card AMAZON

Wild Card is a standalone novel and the first book in the North Ridge Trilogy about rough and rugged Canadian mountain men, the Nelson brothers. Canada’s never felt so hot.

She swore she’d never go back home.
She swore she’d never see the man who broke her all those years ago.
But you don’t always get to choose your path.
And sometimes that path is as wild and rugged as the heart.
Rachel Waters thought she saw the last of the small mountain town of North Ridge, British Columbia, when she left six years ago. But while her advertising career blossomed beneath the skyscrapers of Toronto, her mother’s sudden illness has the 26-year old returning to North Ridge to care for her, putting her career on hold while dealing with family secrets, regrets and unresolved goodbyes.

Shane Nelson has always been a bit of a wild card. The youngest of three brothers, Shane’s spent most of his life being underestimated and misunderstood. With his quiet intensity, classic good looks and thoughtful demeanor, he’s an enigma on horseback, managing his father’s sprawling ranch on the slopes of North Ridge.
But while Shane remains the quintessential brooding cowboy, complete with an arsenal of inner demons, all of that changes when Rachel steps back into his life.
She was the girl he pushed away.
Now she’s the girl who wishes she could leave.
Despite the odds, Shane will do everything to convince Rachel he needs a second chance that he doesn’t deserve but when the two of them head off into the wilderness together in search of lost cattle, more than just their hearts are at stake.
Whether it's love or lives on the line, one thing is for sure: always bet on the wild card.

WILD CARD: is a standalone novel and the first book within the North Ridge Trilogy by Karina Halle, spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives,’ A second chance Romance with an HEA. Which flits from ‘Past to Present’ effortlessly. This book is Shane and Rachel’s story.

tumblr_mwm845x1vu1qffcrao7_500.gif

The last place twenty-six year old Rachel Waters ever expected to see herself was back at North Ridge with her estranged mother and her childhood ex boyfriend Shane Nelson. The boy that stole her heart the first time she saw him in class aged nine, to the teenager who professed he loved her, to the one that broke her heart years later.

It had been six years since she’s fled North Ridge never expecting to ever return, until she got the one phone call she never wanted to get, her mother Vernalee, needed her, she’d been diagnosed with stage 1A lung cancer.

Shane was the first boy she’d kissed, the boy who she gave herself to, the boy who stole her heart and stamped on it, the boy who kept her secrets. The boy she never forgot. But he had his work cut out for him if he ever wanted to get her back.

"I loved you then, I love you now, and I loved you in all the light and darkness in-between. I love you with all the wilderness I can't tame."

Wild Card had the perfect blend of romance, heart break and forgiveness and was a great first book in the North Ridge series, and I can’t wait to read about the other two brothers.

"Love isn't a chain, Rachel. It's not a shackle. Love is what sets you free, love doesn't confine. What I feel for you...it's wild and it's raw and it's as real as that sun above us."

An unexpected slow moving second chance romance story with a blissful HEA. It wasn't all just focused on the romance aspect of the story but healing, a place to finally call home, family, love and mending broken bridges. This author won my heart when it came to her high octane full of nail biting suspense with 'Sins of needles trilogy' so to see her softer side shine through with this book had me lapping up all the cowboys she could throw at me. The chemistry and deep profound love these two shared was off the charts, I loved these two characters with a passion. The intensity of mending their mistakes, the craving of wanting to make up for lost time, this was a great way to spend curled up on the couch with a cup of hot milo whilst it stormed outside.

♕ARC REVIEW ♕ After Our Kiss by Nora Flite

AFTER OUR KISS BY NORA FLITE
TITLE: After Our Kiss
AUTHOR: Nora Flite
GENRE: Dark
PUBLICATION: August 29th, 2017
He isn't my savior. He's the man who's here to break me.

I was thirteen when I was kidnapped.

Fourteen when he helped me escape.

Twenty-three before I ever saw him again.

His face is all over the news: he's a wanted man, now. Maybe my memory played tricks on me… but he looks so different. The boy who saved me years ago had a shy smile and dark, soulful eyes full of secrets.

This man has a hard jaw and a harder mouth. Lips that could never whisper sweet promises.

I knew him as a hero—my savior. I refuse to believe he could become a villain.

Not him.

Then he abducts me, proving me wrong.

He tells me he's going to take me apart and put me back together again. Make me what he needs me to be: a plaything for a monster.

It's the fate I escaped when I was fourteen. And that's when I finally understand.

He was never my hero.

He's the man who's going to break me.

Author's note: I'm not going to tell you what's inside of these pages, other than this: Yes, it's a dark romance. I fully believe you're strong enough to experience it without any hand-holding. After all, surely you trust me by now? ...

I was thirteen when I was kidnapped.

My name is Georgia Mary King and I was whisked away from my bed in the early hours of the morning curled up under my covers surfing the internet when I should've been asleep, a knock and just mere seconds later a cloth pressed over my face knocking me out instantly no time to scream, no time to struggle, everything turned black.

That was how he came for me in the dark - a phantom who heralded no warning, and a man who left no mark...no evidence.

s

To waking up bound, hands and feet with a mirror above throwing her reflection back at her. Scared, powerless to escape. Barely kept alive, befriended by one of the sons, Conway who would sneak in little tidbits of food and drink and they'd lie on the threadbare mattress and read out loud, her only friend in the darkness of hell where she was kept, days turn into months. She was held in a house in the middle of nowhere, isolated, it held a male and his two sons.

Scared that I would die and never having experienced at least one kiss

"Conway," I said softly. "You could do it."
"Do what?"
"Kiss me."
"You could be my first."

That kiss changed everything. That kiss shaped her escape. That kiss moulded her to Conway for years to come. That kiss brought her freedom.

Fourteen when he helped me escape.

Twenty-three before I ever saw him again..

Here is where I'm going to leave my review and urge you to take that plunge come release day and one click, you won't regret it!!

First off I have to say that I love the cover!! Ok onto my review, this book ticked all my boxes, i loved how effortlessly I connected with the story, the characters, it wasn't what I would class as dark but that's only because I tend to go where some reviewers are too scared to tread, but if it's a reader's first step into the darkness then this would be the perfect stepping stone for them. The perfect blend of suspense, romance, and an HEA that had me glad how the story was wrapped up.

I found myself hooked, her use of words and the flow of the story made it very hard to put down once started which is the kind of books I love to encounter. This is a first time read for me by this author but after reading this one I’m definitely going to be reading more of her works in the future.
