From USA Today bestselling author L. J. Shen comes a second-chance romance about love, loss, finding yourself, and getting lost in the right person.
Maddie Goldbloom stitched up a plan to ensure everything in her life was perfect—from a career in fashion to a chic NYC apartment to a pediatrician boyfriend.
When her ex, Chase Black, storms back into her life with an outrageous request, her immediate reaction is to refuse him. But he only wants to fulfill his father’s last wish. So even though he’s the man who broke her heart, playing his fiancée shouldn’t be hard, especially if it means she gets to watch the arrogant devil squirm a bit.
What ensues is a chain of events that detonates Maddie’s life—and when Chase’s walls come down, they both are forced to face reality.
They say keep your enemies close. But what if your enemy is also the man you love?
'THE DEVIL WEARS BLACK'
Is a full length, stand-alone romance book by L.J. Shen. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.'
Well that's kind of embarrassing with how quickly I inhaled this...One minute there I was in my happy place reading and then the next I'm closing out of the last page.
Throw in a fake relationship and its one that I will come back to again and again, and the fact that L.J. Shen was dipping her toes in this genre I was giddy, the feels, the angsty emotional turmoil when things go south are what I seek in this type of trope and this author delivered it in spades.
Madison and Chase were as different as chalk and cheese but together they were perfection, from the banter to the sexual tension which sizzled off the pages, these two had me captivated. I loved seeing them grow, especially our heroine Madison whom I just adored. Chase took a bit to warm up to which I kind of liked, he had his flaws but all in all its those flaws which made me love him more. He was the 'Devil' and he owned it.
I think L.J.Shen out did herself with this book, it was toned down to what I'm used to from her and I think that's what I enjoyed the most about this book, it flowed perfectly and the storyline hooked me from the start.
