It all started with 'Miller, the homeless boy with the captivating voice who fell head over heels for his best friend' Violet' then carried on with 'Holden' the broken iceman who finally found someone who accepted him in 'River' last but not least this is Ronan's story, the boy with a checkered past but has goodness running through his veins & 'Shiloh' the girl who is just as misplaced as himself.
This was one I was highly anticipating, I steered clear of signing up for too many arcs because this was the one that I was wanting above all else. I don't know how she does it, this author is a powerhouse when it comes to giving us readers exactly what we craved without us even going down on bended knee, yet again she gave me a slow burn five star read, yet again she pulled me in and held me captive until I closed out of that last page.
A bittersweet sensation as it's a series I never wanted to end. Emma Scott is unstoppable, the storyline is beyond unique, the characters are likeable and relatable, this book was so captivating and so beautifully written. I devoured this like there was no tomorrow.
This can be read as a stand-alone but I personally suggest and recommend that you read these books in order.
Ronan's back story will break your heart, it's raw, and gut-wrenching, he strives not to be like his father, being raised in the system at a young age after witnessing his father murder his mother, moved from foster home to foster home life hasn't been easy on him. Until an uncle comes forward and settles him in his run down apartment complex in Santa Cruz. This is the break he's needed to fill full the promise to his mother to finish his education and this might just be the break he's been waiting for.
Shiloh lives with her elderly great-grandma Bibi and creates one off jewellery designs in a little nook out the back of her Grandma's property which Ronan built by answering an ad in the local paper. She dreams of opening her own shop one day.
She may come across like she has everything one could ever want but she's just as misplaced in the world as much as Ronan.
