Book one in the WHEN THE WORLD FELL series
LIV
Being one of the small percentage who made it through a zombie apocalypse should have made me happy—and I guess I am. Most of the time. It's just... I'm the sole survivor of my family, and I have one friend left; my eighty-year-old neighbour, Haruto.
It's a lonely life. A dangerous life.
And now my food supplies are running low.
I've lived in the city for a decade, long before the pandemic took everything from us, but I need a rural property with room to grow vegetable gardens and fruit trees, and space to invite others to join—if I can find more people like me who still believe in old-world values in a new world where there are no systems or rules.
The problem? Haruto's unwell and unfit for travel, and it's too dangerous to spend long stretches of time outside. It's not just the dead with their vacant eyes and hungry mouths that I need to worry about. It's other humans, too.
There's a gang roaming the city; they're violent and unpredictable, and I've never seen women with them. They intimidate me enough that I try to make myself invisible every time I leave the safety of my apartment.
There's another man lurking around, too. He's been staying in the building opposite mine, and I've spent the past week tracking his movements. Although I've kept my distance from him so far, just being around him makes me feel safer outside and less lonely.
It's risky approaching other humans now, but Haruto isn't getting any better, and soon enough I'll be alone—completely alone for the first time in my life.
And I'm reaching the point now where desperation is pushing me to risk it all and bear the consequences.

π 'πHπ π
AπLπN' π Is the first dystopian novel within the (when the word fell) by new to me author 'Elle Richards' Spoken in 'dual POV's.
Re-read February 2025, now that the 3rd book has landed in this series, I wanted to do a reread. Loved it again.
I've only just jumped on this genre last year, and from that point onwards I became hooked and sought more that I could sink my teeth into. And this came along and I couldn't wait to dive in.
This is set in Australia, within the township of Sydney, Liv is taking care of her 80 year old neighbour, Haruto, but lets take a step back, when things started changing within the world, she started preparing for the unknown by buying life long products she didn't know the world as she knew it was going to end but through her reading up on matters she wanted to be prepared for the worst, and that's exactly what happened. People started dying by the thousands problem is they didn't stay dead, barricading herself and her neighbour within her apartment kept them out of harm's way.
But her neighbour was deteriorating, she could see it in the way he moved, the way he stopped eating, the way he tried to hide how much pain he was in.
She knew they needed to leave her apartment due to her supplies dwindling, but with his health she wasn't sure when they could make a move without detection from the gangs roaming the streets.
She knows of all the risks as daily she sneaks out of the appartments window to scavenge and hunt out any pain meds which would be helpful, it's during these times she spots a lone man apparently holding out in the building close to hers, she gets a good feeling off him, with no red flags warning her off.
Slowy they make each others acquaintance and form a plan to leave the city and head out into the countryside in search of a place to maybe form some sort of a community of like minded survivors.
Straight away I was hooked. So easy to get into, harder to put down, I read this in one go and just had to purchase the next book in this series.
I love the fighting for survival aspect of this genre. These two were new acquaintances and knew they only had each other to rely on, with a bad gang of males roaming the streets they knew they had to move out of the city and find sanctuary in the countryside.
But to get there they needed a reliable car and a well devised plan, a few points within this story my heartbeat spiked up giving it an extra beat, the fear and adrenaline for these two had me inhaling these pages like my life depended on it.
For a new author I thought she did an amazing job, the storyline was unique and engaging, the characters were relatable, fast paced and enough action packed moments to keep my attention throughout.

Book two in the WHEN THE WORLD FELL series
Cruz
Taking a chance on a stranger in a world like ours can go either way, but assuming the worst of someone is always your best bet.
I've been let down too many times by people who wanted to take my possessions or my life, and trusting an unknown these days comes with too many risks. Lower your guard for a minute, and it could all be over—especially when you throw in roaming corpses with their insatiable hunger for human flesh.
There's no danger with Liv, though. Something about her feels like home and putting my life in her hands comes as naturally to me as breathing. I trust her; I rely on her, and after less than a week in her company, I'm falling for her.
We've outrun a gang, escaped the city she called home for the past ten years, and now we're heading into unfamiliar territory.
We're driving from one side of the state to the other in search of a house she's only ever seen in a magazine spread. It feels like an unattainable goal with too many speed bumps along the way, but I'll go anywhere as long as she's with me.
I'll fight for her. I'll die for her. But most of all, I'll do whatever it takes to live for her.
I want to turn this into something, make a life for the two of us in a world where that just shouldn't be possible anymore.
I'm sure we'll meet new people on our journey—I'm counting on it—but no matter how many others join us, Liv will always be my number one.

My Review
π TπE FπAπLπSπ π Is the second dystopian novel within the (when the word fell) by new to me author 'Elle Richards' Spoken in 'dual POV's.
Read this back in May, last year, just done another reread since the next book has dropped in this series, still love it as much as I did the first time I read this..
So this picks up where the first book stopped, so it’s an easy transition into this book.
After loving the first book, I purchased this one straight after and like the first I fell in love completely with this life changing world, these characters, the angst, the pull on my emotions fraying my nerves as they fight off the dead to get to a safe haven.
I can't get enough of this series and I hope there's many more to come because I am beyond hooked, and what surprise me even more is that this author only has these two under her belt but you'd never guess, her writing style is so easy to follow, she pulls you in like a seasoned author, it flows effortlessly, after two books I'm definitely a fan..
I love these two characters, our heroine is as tough as nails, but soft when required, she's sassy, strong, and can take down many walkers without breaking a sweat. And our hero is the perfect match for her, these two are perfection and I can't wait for the next book in this series..

LIV
After all that we’ve endured, the dream of making it to Bridgehill has often felt unattainable—but we're so close now, I can almost touch it, and the thought makes me uneasy.
With Cruz by my side, and my new family around me, I can't wait to breathe the sea air and experience the true feeling of security. I want to be settled, to find meaning in a life where everything we once loved was obliterated just two short years ago.
All I can hope for is that our group makes it there alive. Beyond that, I'll take each challenge as it comes, knock down anyone who gets in my way, and keep loving Cruz, the man who's quickly become the best part of my life.
THE FOREVER (BOOK THREE) IS THE FINAL INSTALMENT IN THE WHEN THE WORLD FELL SERIES.

OπEπEπ' Is the final instalment within the 'World Fell Series' by author Elle Richards. Spoken in 'Dual perspectives.' This picks up where the previous book left off, continuing Liv and Cruz' story.
This was the perfect ending to a perfectly executed series, I was invested from the very first book, and couldn't get enough, the highs and lows, the fight for survival, the friendships they forged along the way, the love and togetherness as a group as they strived to find a safe place to lay down roots wrung out all the feels.
All the hardships faded away as they found their safe haven binding them together even stronger than they were before.
I loved these characters..
I’m so excited to see what the author has install for us as she embarks on a new series.
