Is the first novel in (The Hollows) duet by new to me author Amanda Hockings.
I've started to broaden my taste in books and I’m finding I kind of enjoy this genre, the fight for survival, the search for a safe place to lay their heads, fighting off zombies, it definitely spikes up the adrenaline whilst reading as you pray these characters you've bonded with don't get bitten, because one bite and it's game over for them.
When their quarantine in an abandoned highschool had been compromised by zombies and her eight year old brother had been shipped out safely by the medical team she vowed to find him.
A motley crew of misfits (Remy, Blue, harlow and Lazo) make up their small team and a lion which they named Ripley they'd rescued on their travels as they band together to get to an army barrack where her brother is being taken care of.
Nineteen year old Remy was so kickass, an unbeatable survivor, tougher than many of the males she’d encountered, but also detached, everyone she had loved had been killed, other than her brother.
It's not heavy on romance which I found I didn't really mind too much as it made for a thrilling read all the same.

This series is quick, so before you know it you've inhaled the two books, they have to be read in order to understand the story. This picks up right where the previous book left off. Remy had taken the place of her brother as the hackers (aka doctors) fight to find a cure to fight against the zombies.
This was as action packed as the previous books, more casualties of loved ones fallen under the zombies attacks, which hit you where it hurts because no character is safe.
Like the previous this also wasn't big on the romance side of things, but it also didn't need it.
The only problem I have is that this book was over so quickly with no end result, I wanted to know what happened next, did she find Lazlo? Did others survive? I needed, wanted, craved more.

Is the third full length zombie book in the (Hollows) series by author Amanda Hocking..
I’ll be seeing the new year in by playing catch up on this series…Happy New Year 2026 🍾!! Here's to finding new authors, reading more, and loving more fictional characters..
This picked up right where the previous book left off but in Lazlo's POV, which I was so ready for. We've waited a long time for this book and I'm glad I can read this series back to back.. I wanted to get his spin on things, his thoughts, his feelings, what happened to him and Harlow when they split up from Remy when she took her brothers place within the Blaine County Quarantine Zone.
With the weakening of the Quarantine Zones perimeter walls from the hordes of Zombies, Lazlo along with eleven other survivors took off in an army vehicle to a destination unknown other than heading where the temperatures are much colder and less likely where the zombies won't thrive.
Until their truck runs over some spikes left on the road their on, the group gets split up, some not surviving. And it's here where Harlow and Lazlo are split up, both thinking the other dead.
This one went a little bit darker than the previous books and I was all here for it all especially the zombie farm where Harlow ended up, that was some f#cked up sh#t..
This series just gets better and better, along with more losses, more zombies, but more connections are made along these characters journeys.
