TITLE: Sworn
SERIES: Blood Duet #1
AUTHOR: Maria Luis
GENRE: Romance
PUBLICATION: May 17th, 2018
SWORN: A full length romance novel, the first book in ‘Blood Duet #1’ series by new to me author ‘Maria Luis.’ Spoken in ‘dual Perspectives.’
Once upon a time, in a far, far away land, when I'd first found myself alone and scared, I'd pictured my saviour, I'd imagined my Prince Charming as the requisite blond with the blue eyes and the tall physique-to say nothing of the fact that he'd be sweet and gentlemanly and oh-so-handsome. Lincoln Asher failed on every front-aside from his Haint blue eyes.
In this we meet tarot reader twenty-five year old Avery, an art she'd picked up from other readers in Jackson Square, New Orleans. She’s trying to escape a past that’s still wanting to get her in it’s clutches. Fearing for her life she hides within the shadows, living under the radar using tarot reading as a front to gather information on Jay Foley her stepfather, now the current mayor of the city, from unsuspecting patrons that sit at her table, unaware that she is grilling them on any unsuspecting information they can give her.
And thirty four year old Sergeant Lincoln Asher with the New Orleans Police department, a cop that has no qualms of getting his hands dirty.

Hot cover..Glowing 5 star after 5 star reviews. Without hesitation I then proceeded to one click!! Which I don't regret for a second.
Admittedly this started off slow, it started building up around the half way mark when the two eventually gave into their attraction and at that point onwards it all started moving at a pace I enjoyed more and from that point onwards I was hooked. A slow burn that got me in it's clutches.
I don't think these two could've been matched up any better than they were, both lost souls, both with dark backgrounds, both in their own ways seeking vengeance, both not wanting to fall under the spell the other can cast. Neither will bow to the other. But like in their case, their attraction took them unawares. An unusual, unique read that did end on one whooper of a cliffy!! I can not wait for the next book!!
Lies, deceit, murder, suspense this had it all and amongst it all were our two characters shrouded in a cloak of deceit themselves trying to keep up with their lies.

I bow to no man.
The words are tattooed on my skin, just as they’re branded on my heart.
But I never planned for Sergeant Lincoln Asher, a man as deceptive as he is cold. His dominance sets my teeth on edge . . . and my body on fire. He won’t stop until I’m his, but I’m not his to take.
My secrets bind me—and blind me.
I live in the shadows of New Orleans. Hidden and protected in the underworld I call home. I know who I am.
I vow never to kneel before a man...
Save one.
And he will be my downfall.

Maria is a big fan of books, nature, dogs, and pretty things - not always in that order, though.
By day, Maria is a historian who specializes in 19th century New Orleans and 14th century London. What do the two eras have in common? Not much, except for disease, scandal, and crime - Maria's favorite historical topics. (For real, if you want to talk any of the above, just reach out!)
When not digging through the archives, Maria writes romances about strong men and the sassy women who sweep them off their feet.
Her favorite book will always be "Scandal in Spring" by Lisa Kleypas - she's worn the pages so much by re-reading it, but will never give it up.
She loves hearing from readers, so feel free to reach out :)
