❥ ARC REVIEW ❥ ABOUT TOMORROW BY ABBI GLINES

TITLE: About Tomorrow
AUTHOR: Abbi Glines
GENRE: Romance
PUBLICATION: December 14th, 2020

About Tomorrow...

I close my eyes as I hear him speak. I take one very long and deep breath hoping to calm the immediate butterflies that take flight in my stomach and hope to slow down the racing of my heart. The voice was slightly deeper but the timbre was one that was achingly familiar.

My actions did little to help, but then who was I kidding? A deep breath wasn't going to fix the effect he had on me and my body's inevitable reaction. Even the memories that would forever haunt me couldn't keep my emotions from triggering at the nearness of him once again.

I used to pray that I'd find the strength to move on from him, from the pain that the end carried, from the emptiness in my chest, but ultimately move on from—the loss of Creed Sullivan and the death of his sister, Cora.

The Sullivans had been the best part of my summers in New England.

Deep down, I knew my ache for all that I had lost was the reason I returned...

But I hadn't expected to see him again—especially not like this.

'ABOUT TOMORROW'

Is a full length 'New Adult' book by Abbi Glines. Past and Present time.

❝ You're my yesterday, today and tomorrow. You always have been and always will be.❞

Jumping into this it was like that feeling of coming home after being absent for so long, because it's been years since I have read anything by this author but when I saw this making the rounds and a stand-alone I knew it was time to make my way back to her.

This tackles a few tough topics, cheating, drunk driving, suicide, drugs, so just be aware of that before jumping into this one. It’s nowhere like anything I had been used to in the past by this author, her books were generally safe reads, I have no limits but others will be just as surprised by this book as I was, it went down a few paths I wasn’t expecting. But overall it was an enjoyable read.

It all kick starts off in 2010 as a set of twins Creed and Cora made Sailor Copeland's summers so memorable when she stayed with her Gran in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The two girls were close like sisters and later on Creed and Sailor connect as teenage lovers which Cora was overjoyed about.

He was her first kiss, her first love, her first heartbreak.

Then tragedy struck when Cora committed suicide, it was Sailor and Creed who found her along with a note (we never learn what was said in the note), unbeknownst to them she had been battling depression for a while, they had been too wrapped up in their new relationship status and never noticed anything unusual with Cora.

This affected the two of them deeply, Sailor spiralled into depression and Creed cut all ties with her.

Now fast forward to 2019. Sailor's life is back on track, she's happy and settled with her boyfriend Griff of four years. She's staying with him short term until the movers move her things into her Gran's house for her which had been passed down to her upon her Gran's passing.

It's at her boyfriends apartment that she's introduced to his flatmate and his cousin who is staying there for a few days, it so happens to be that the cousin is no other than Creed.

This was the last thing Sailor wanted, they try and stay clear of each other until she moves into her Gran's house, but imagine her surprise when she learns that Creed has also moved back to his childhood home just across from her Grans place.

When it should be her boyfriend making sure she's settled in ok etc etc txt messages go unanswered for days on end, being a med student was taking up a lot of his free time, times when Griff was mean't to visit were cancelled this all led to lines becoming blurred between Sailor and Creed and before you know it all those feelings that had laid dormant for years came spiralling back. Though it wasn't without a few bumps in the road they had to get over.
