Synopsis

When Shay Zucconi’s step-grandmother died, she left Shay a tulip farm—under two conditions.

First, Shay has to move home to the small town of Friendship, Rhode Island. Second—and most problematic since her fiancé just called off the wedding—Shay must be married within one year.

Marriage is the last thing in the world Shay wants but she’ll do anything to save the only real home she’s ever known.

Noah Barden loved Shay Zucconi back in high school. Not that he ever told her. He was too shy, too awkward, too painfully uncool to ask out the beautiful, popular girl.

A lifetime later, Noah is a single dad to his niece and has his hands full running the family business. That old crush is the farthest thing from his mind.

Until Shay returns to their hometown.

CW/TW: absentee parent(s), brief mention of parent death, brief mention of parent chronic illness, mention of incarceration, mention of temporary foster care placement, reference to teenage teasing/bullying (not detailed, not explicit), brief incidence of fat-shaming, living with a neurodivergent child.
My Review
'🅸🅽 🅰 🅹🅰🅼'
Is a full length small town childhood friends romance book by new to me author Kate Canterbury. Spoken in 'Dual perspectives.'

This was such a light hearted no frills kind of read, this new to me author just let the characters do the talking without throwing any unexpected twists or turns, something you could see unfolding in life, without the fake marriage that is..

Shay Zucconi had literally been left at the altar, surrounded by friends, dressed in her wedding dress ready to be married when her husband to be called it off via one life changing phone call. Feeding into her abandonment issues since she was a child. Finding out that she had inherited a tulip farm from her grandmother was the perfect escape, but that escape came with some tight stipulations. To inherit she had to marry within the year.

Enter Noah Barden he's here to save the day and to save the tulip farm, her offers his own stipulation which has many lines getting crossed and blurred. When things went from fake to real. A slow burn which hit all the right spots.

These characters were perfection and so easy to relate to, Shay with her love handles and small insecurities. Gennie, the young sailor mouthed sword bearing lover of pirates had me in stitches throughout, and last but not least Noah *sighs* he was perfection, the man who took on other’s problems, the perfect father figure to Gennie, with a farm he inherited and turned into a goldmine, always striving for perfection. He was gruff, grumpy but had a heart of gold.

These characters were so real, so infectious, so perfect, so unforgettable, this author weaved such a beautiful unique story.
