ABBY:
I’m falling for the father of the baby I’m carrying.
The problem is: it’s not my baby.
And the broody widower is not looking for a long-term partner.
As a surrogate, the deal was that I’d only be in England long enough to give birth.
At first, the man seemed as pretentious as his name: Sigmund Benedictus.
He and I butted heads.
Sig challenged my intentions, accused me of just wanting to do this for the money.
Gradually, he learned to trust me.
He even became protective.
Over time, our heated animosity turned into fiery chemistry.
I was falling in love with him.
But my time here had a limit.
I needed to protect my heart from the devastatingly gorgeous older man who’d end up breaking it.

SIG:
When my in-laws told me they wanted to use my dead wife’s eggs to conceive a grandchild, I wasn’t immediately on board.
They swore that on her deathbed Britney told them it was what she wanted—but only if I fathered the baby. Her parents insisted they would be the ones to raise it.
Against my better judgment, I agreed.
I vowed to keep my heart out of it, though.
I’d continue to pretend it wasn’t happening and live the empty, single life I’d become accustomed to the past five years since Britney died.
And despite the fact that a certain younger American named Abby Knickerbocker had awakened things inside me that I thought were long dead…
I most certainly wouldn’t fall in love with the surrogate.
My Review
π 'πππ πππππππππ' π Is a full length stand-alone romance book by Penelope Ward. Spoken in 'dual perspectives.'❥ Abby & Sig ❥
The grump & the sunshine
This definitely got its hooks into me, never letting go until that last page was closed. This kept me in its grip throughout, a slow burn that had me in a roller coaster of feels. I’d started this in the wee hours and finished it in the late afternoon, wondering how this author was going to tame our wayward male if you've read The Aristocrat by this author, then you've already met Sig who used to have a revolving door of woman. In some ways he hasn't changed his ways.
No one could replace the love of his life.
Their love was over before it had begun
He didn't ask to be a widower
Five years on after losing his one true love and he's still as lost as ever
One night flings
No attachments, no sleepovers
Until his in-laws who he's still close to stopped by and asked the unthinkable of him. They think it's time. They want a grandchild before they get too old and want to use their deceased daughters eggs which were frozen before her passing and that he has to be the father. They have even found the perfect surrogate.
Meet twenty-five year old Abby, kind hearted Abby is a wee bit lost herself, wanting to do one big thing to prove her worth, and helping surrogate seems the perfect thing for her to do.
When Sig and Abby first meet, it's not all rainbows and roses, their meeting goes off with a bump, he thinks shes doing it for money, she just has to convince him that she's doing out of the kindness of her heart.
Straight off the bat there's an attraction between them, slowly we see Sig healing, opening up, stepping out of the darkness and into the light. These two were perfection, she was soft to his gruffness. I loved her gentle ways, her food analogies when it came to describing him. Definitely a must read!!
