Isolated at her family's wildlife refuge in northern Georgia, Raven longs to escape. Instead, she spends her days shoveling manure for bears and wolves—until her father contracts the deadly Hydra virus.
Desperate to help him, Raven journeys into town to get medicine, only to discover the outside world is collapsing into chaos. There are no police, no laws, and no hospitals. No one is coming to help.
The wildlife refuge she once resented now offers sanctuary—plenty of food, shelter, and the safety of electrified fences. Using the skills her father taught her, Raven knows how to survive.
But the threat is just beginning. A dangerous gang tracks Raven back to the refuge, and they'll stop at nothing to take what she has...
Raven can run. Or she can stand her ground, risking everything to defend the animals—and her home.

My Review
As everyone around them succumbed to the deadly Hydra virus, (an engineered virus released by terrorists) Raven and her father were the last two standing at her family's wildlife refuge in northern Georgia. Until her father also fell ill. To save him Raven risks everything to go to town for much needed medicine. It's there at the pharmacy she encounters (The Headhunters) a deadly motorcycle gang. Thinking this was the last time she would ever set eyes on them, it doesn't occur to her to check behind her to see if she's being followed back to the Wild Life Sanctuary.
Danger is on her doorstep. Within the blink of an eye that night as they infiltrate her only home she's ever known things turn deadly quickly. One girl against an army of bikers. One girl who will risk everything to save the animals relying on her.
My biggest weakness in life are animals, if they are hurt, die, get killed, I kind of steer clear of books and movies if I can help it where they are concerned. I can’t even watch the nature channel. People getting hurt or killed I can handle, animals it’s a big nope.
So this book hit those triggers where it hurt. Defenceless animals die in this, tears were shed, my heart broke.
No reviews on my list mentioned what I would encounter within this book…But through that pain I fell in love with the big brave beast which saved her life.
I’m looking forward to jumping into the next book in this series..
