Is a full length stand-alone post apocalypse book by Author Jacqueline Druga. The story follows strangers Lacey & Madison as they make their treacherous journey home.
This has been on my iPad for ages, skimming through what to read next, I kept stopping on this, the cover kept nudging me towards reading it.
I read this in a day, it pulled me in straight away, and made me love these two female characters as though they were family. Brought together by chance as they journeyed through a barren landscape trying to reach their loved ones. Where bonds were formed with other survivors along the way.
Sisters Lindsay & Lacey were taking a much needed vacation to Vegas whilst at the airport waiting in line when the first tremor hit, before a much bigger one shook the ground, the lights were the first thing to go, needing to make a quick exit they jump on one of the available trams, when a huge billowing gray cloud blocked the sky and all surrounding areas. They and other passengers were trapped above ground on the rail. That gray cloud was moving at a record speed towards their trams location, the impact took no prisoners, leaving only one survivor. Lacey.. Miraculously she'd been thrown into a small hole where she could only lie in the fetal position.
Many days and hours she held onto her dead sisters hand. Praying that other survivors or a rescue team would find her.
Torrential rain is what rescued her, making some of the rubble blocking her escape pliable enough for her to move it and escape.
What she saw on the outside was unbelievable, no people, no buildings, no landmarks. there was nothing but rubble as far as the eye could see..
Three thousand miles away from home in an unfamiliar city. Thinking the only place she could conceive to be safe would be to head towards the mountains. Running into another survivor Madison gives her hope that not all is lost.
