Jesse Black has been married to her best friend Emery Black for twenty four years, these two met back in their freshman years. She's the CEO of a thriving business called Cinched, that designs shapewear. But she has decided to take a step back so that she can spend time with her family.
Her husband Emery is an outstanding architect, they have two beautiful children, Viv who is seventeen and Tommy at twelve. Emery has just been offered a dream of a lifetime to design a new high rise building. Things are starting to get busy which is why Jesse suggests that it's about time he hires an assistant.
Enter thirty-two year old Charlotte Scott. She comes in and takes the Black's under her wings. She makes everyone's lives so much easier. She takes on more than what is required of her, from a shoulder to lean on, to working into the wee hours of the morning.
Nothing and I mean nothing at all prepared me for this book..
This took me on such an unexpected emotional journey. Straight away as I hit the prologue I was pulled under a cloak of sadness as it clawed its way into my heart..
But that was only the beginning..
More was headed my way.
A twist had my heart breaking, enveloping it in such profound sadness as I read in disbelief because never in a million years did I ever expect that outcome. And part of me didn't want to carry on reading..
And yet again I wasn’t prepared for it..
I was left floundering, an emotional wreck lapping up the words the author was throwing at me. I devoured this in one sitting. From front to back I ate up the authors words. This flitted from then to now and it just fits this book perfectly.
I sat here for a while contemplating my rating tossing up between a 5 and 4 star rating and finally went with 5 stars and here's why.. I loved how much this took me by surprise, the twists and turns that I never expected, the ending that had me gobsmacked, with love came heartbreak which all made for a riveting read.
