❥ REVIEW ❥ MASTER OF SALT & BONES BY KERI LAKE

TITLE: Master of Salt and Bones
AUTHOR: Keri Lake
GENRE: Dark | Romance
PUBLICATION: April 22nd, 2020

When I was a little girl, I dreamed a handsome knight would come and rescue me from my wretched mother. He'd ride up on his white steed and break the curse I've been fated to carry since the day I was born.

Funny how things changed over time. How the fairy tale twisted into something far more crooked, darker than I ever imagined.

In reality, my knight is scarred and broken, living alone in a castle of bones that overlooks the sea. He isn’t searching for me. He never was.

Lucian Blackthorne is as cursed as I am, and equally shunned by the locals, the fishers of men, who believe him to be the devil in the flesh.

Perhaps he is, with the way his amber eyes draw me in, ignite me like an infernal blaze. And the sins he whispers in my ear are as wickedly intoxicating as the man himself.

Yet, his touch is heaven and his will is my weakness.

He calls us forbidden, an unsalvageable tragedy, with no happy end. Maybe we are. But in this story, he’s the one who needs saving.

MASTER OF SALT AND BONES
Is a full length, dark suspenseful romance read, by new to me author Keri Lake. Spoken in 'Dual perspectives.' In this we meet Lucian & Isadora.

I'd seen 'Master of Salt & Bones' doing the rounds on my IG, HERE and FB and couldn't help myself, I HAD to one click!! I craved something different, something unique, the cover is absolutely gorgeous, and being that its a new to me author I was willing to jump in both feet!! And I'm so glad I took that plunge, because straight away I was pulled under this authors spell.

God what wasn’t there to love about this book.
I wanted unique, I got it, I wanted an unputdownable read, I got it, I wanted to forget about the ugliness our world is currently experiencing, I got it. This ticked so many boxes. The mystery, the darkness, the twists and turns, the romance, the vast age difference. God the feels on this one came at me full force.

Living in a small sea side community known by its superstitions resides 'Blackthorne Manor' a modern day castle which overlooks the township otherwise known as Bonesalt due its white clay and sand that covers the exterior of the castle. This very castle is owned by the only heir Lucian Blackthorne, he's also called the Devil of Bonesalt a man shrouded in mystery with a double homicide attached to his name.

It is said that when Lucian was younger he was incarcerated in a psychiatric ward and scars mar half his face. The very scars that earned him the devil moniker.

The devil of Bonesalt.
My new boss.

For a few months, desperate for an escape nineteen year old Isadora will be hired as a companion to Lucian's ailing mother. Being a daughter of a sinner and father unknown she's lived her life striving to escape the hold the island has on her.

Since childhood she's had an uncanny ability to play music by ear, even though she doesn't have the ability to actually read sheet music itself.

It was my mother who first told me that there was no such thing
as fairy tales with happy endings.
That's because she spent her whole life waiting for the white knight
to come and rescue her from the life she so desperately wanted to escape.
I went in search of the villain instead,
and found him alone and in pain, living in a castle of bones.

I loved how past and present was incorporated. This is exactly how a long book should be executed!!
This author definitely has a way with words, she had me eating out of her palm effortlessly. I devoured this and I can honestly say that this book won’t be the last one I read by her. I absolutely loved it. Every page pulled me in deeper and deeper. This is exactly the type of dark, twisted story that I love!

This comes highly recommended by yours truly. Get your one click on. You won't regret it!!
