Synopsis
Scarlett
When Cristiano Grigori came for me, he didn’t come alone. He brought his army to kill the soldiers at my door and took me for himself.
He put his ring on my finger and marked me as mafia property.
His property.
My brothers thought they had wiped out the Grigori family, but Cristiano is very much alive.
And he has one purpose. Revenge.
Cristiano
The De La Cruz brothers were pawns to my real enemy. They were nothing but foot soldiers.
Killing them was easy enough.
Taking their sister, well, that’s another story. And she doesn’t know the half of it.
Scarlett is mine. My bride. My pawn.
She’s the daughter of a once-powerful Cartel King. And through her I will flush out the rest of the rats who sought to wipe out the Grigori name.
Keeping her is just a bonus.
A brand new arranged marriage dark mafia romance series from the author of Collateral Damage and The Dark Legacy Trilogy!
My Review
'𝖂𝖎𝖙𝖍 𝕿𝖍𝖎𝖘 𝕽𝖎𝖓𝖌'
Is the first full length mafia romance book in the ('𝕿𝖔 𝖍𝖆𝖛𝖊 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖙𝖔 𝖍𝖔𝖑𝖉') duet Natasha Knight. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.'
This was the perfect book to get me out of my reading funk, just enough darkness to have my dark wee soul rejoicing, the beginning set up the perfect stage for what was to come in this book. Cristiano is a man set on revenge after being left for dead when he saw his family massacred right in front of his eyes as he was left bleeding out on the ground. Many years go by and he's still no closer to getting the answers he seeks, marring his body with names he wants to take out and right at the top of the list is Scarlett's brothers.
Scarlett is ruled under her brother's thumbs and is being used as collateral damage to marry a man she despises but will give her brother's the power and protection they seek in this mafia world of there's where everyone is out for blood.
The only slight negative I had with this is that I didn't really get the full connection I would've expected with our hero, I was fully expecting to be hit in the feels by him, but that really didn't happen, I'm hoping that all comes in the next book. But all in all I really enjoyed this and can't wait to dive into the next book.
Synopsis
Scarlett
Cristiano is my enemy. He’s also the only man with whom I’ve ever felt safe. Protected.
But I have to remember that he married me with one purpose in mind. Revenge. I would be the bridge to his real enemies.
I can’t let myself forget that he isn’t the hero of this story. His hands are covered in blood. I saw that with my own eyes.
Cristiano
I thought I knew Scarlett’s past, but I didn’t know anything.
I thought I knew the worst of monsters, but I hadn’t seen anything yet.
Sometimes, you have to lie to yourself to survive.
Sometimes, it’s those closest to you who will bury their knives in your back.
Too many times it’s the innocents who pay for your mistakes. For your refusal to see.
I can’t let Scarlett pay for mine.
But I may be too late to stop it.
My Review
I enjoyed this duet, the past and present colliding into darkness, revenge sought. I have a few issues with how it was all tied up at the end, it just felt too rushed, I wanted, needed, craved more, I also still didn’t really connect like I’d hoped with our hero. A man of few words. He didn’t pull those warm fuzzy feelings out of me, making it hard to connect with him, I needed to see more of him come through. The heroine was a different story, I connected with her fully and loved everything about her.
Twists and turns, enemies come to light, I loved the storyline and inhaled this in record speed. It just gave me enough darkness to appease my dark soul. Revenge with nail biting suspense with twists and turns we never saw coming. And where we finally get some of those niggly much needed answers on who orchestrated the attack on the Cristiano's family.
Definitely a mafia duet to #oneclick and can't wait to dive back into this authors previous books which I've not read.
Argh! Not connecting with the hero would hurt how I felt about the duet too :( I'm glad they were still winners for you and that you're interested in reading her other books. You're in for some treats :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Nat!! Kind of need a break from my usual go to genre and reading some from authors I've enjoyed in the past xox
