A dark, modern gothic reimagining of the British fairy tale, Goldilocks and the Three Bears…
“I don’t know where I am, or how I ended up on this snow-buried tract in the middle of the forest. I don’t know where I’m going.”
I came home to find a woman asleep in my cabin. She’s alone, injured—mine to care for until the storm passes. A shot at redemption I don’t deserve after what I’ve done.
She says she doesn’t know who she is—is she lying to me? In the end, it doesn’t matter. I don’t have to trust her. I just need her to trust me.
But the more time she spends here, the more the cabin’s shadowy corners reveal the secrets I’ve been keeping while a dark threat looms in the forest beyond.
She says a life with me is all she wants, but I know that can’t be true. When she finds out the truth about herself, will she stay? Or will she try to run once she realizes not everyone leaves these woods alive?

Is the first full length romance book in a series by new to me author Leigh Maynard. Spoken in 'dual perspectives.'
I didn’t really get the gothic vibes in this but a good story just the same, a grump and sunshine trope a few twists and turns which I never saw coming, these two had more in common than one would think.
A young woman lost in the woods, all alone in snow barren terrain. struggling through the elements with no destination in mind, not knowing her name, or where she came from, and throughout her trek through the woods has a distinct feeling that someone is following her.
She stumbles across a weathered A-frame solitaire cabin unoccupied but looks to be owned by a family going off the items in it, everything within is a set of three's, bed, chairs etc. Lighting a fire, and scavenging in the cupboards for food to sustain her, she finds a tin of soup which wasn't nearly enough to quench the hunger pains. Climbing the stairs she decides to sleep in one of the made up beds which had floral sheets over the king sized bed and what looks to be a toddlers bed and to elevate things in the morning.
A noise of keys rattling awaken her from a deep slumber..
Enter Baer.. A closed off gruff of a man, a lumberjack who likes his solitaire life until he discovers the woman who as it seems has no memory of life before arriving at his cabin.
As the days go by as he takes care of her due to frostbite the attraction between them builds in the background.
