TRUST: is a full length standalone romance novel by Kylie Scott. In this we meet Edie Millen and John Cole two college students. Both were held hostage at gun point by a meth head named Chris during a robbery at a convenience store 'The Drop Stop'. Both there for two slightly different reasons, One to seal the deal on a drug drop off, the other to stock up on junk food.
Five people in that store on that fateful night only three including the perpetrator walked out. A bond forged like no other. Edie's life flashed before her eyes as she's held at gunpoint, never getting to say goodbye to her mother, never having that chance to lose her virginity and never to become a teacher.
All we had in common was a night of blood and violence.
Death was a stone dragging me deep. Life had been so much simpler and easier before all of this. I'd been immortal, but tomorrow didn't exist. It was all now, here today. Until Chris and his gun destroyed everything.
The characters were a lot younger than what I'd generally read, standing at seventeen years old. The connection you get with these two characters though and the storyline as a whole had me loving every minute in this book.
The beginning took my breath away, two soul survivors, two fractured teens mend as they lean on each other after the tragedy they survived. I loved the bond these two had, from friends to lovers, a deep life altering experience that had a profound change in the way they looked at life from that day onwards. I loved how she came into her own, from being bullied to taking a stand and saying you know what no more.
