GENRE: Romance
PUBLICATION DATE: July 10th, 2017
A tortured soul meets a damaged family…
A lonely man, a widowed woman, a carefree boy, and a broken girl… Can the four come together and help heal each other? Or will fear of the unknown and guilt about the past keep them apart?
Her whispered prayers break her...
At night, as she’s drifting off to sleep, I press my ear to the door and listen to her heart-wrenching pleas. Her words are agony to my healing heart, but I cherish the sound of them, for that’s the only time I ever hear my beautiful daughter speak. Since her father died two years ago, she’s grown quiet and withdrawn. Cat’s Valley was to be our new beginning, a place where my family and I can heal, but what we find there is so much more.
Scars mar his body. Pain has left him in pieces…
Four years ago, I lost the two things I cherished most in the world. They were ripped from my arms in the most painful and cruel way. Since then, I’ve kept to myself, preferring to stay away from the pitying looks and murmured rumors. Everything changed when she and her children barged into my life. It was an accident, and I don’t deserve them, but now that they’re here, I’m not sure I can let them go.

Alex Grayson is the bestselling author of heart pounding, emotionally gripping contemporary romance including The Jaded Series, The Consumed Series, and two standalone novels. Her passion for books was reignited by a gift from her sister-in-law intended to distract Alex and help her pass the time while her husband was away for work. After spending several years as a devoted reader and blogger, Alex decided to write and independently publish her first novel in 2014 (an endeavor that took a little longer than expected). The rest, as they say, is history.
Originally a southern girl, Alex now lives in Ohio with her husband, two children, two cats and dog. She loves the color blue, homemade lasagna, casually browsing real estate, and interacting with her readers. Visit her website, www.alexgraysonbooks.com, or find her on social media!

WHISPERED PRAYERS OF A GIRL is a standalone romance novel by Alex Grayson, in this we meet Alexander and Gwendolyn and is spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives’ This is a first time read for me by this author.
A tortured soul meets a damaged family...A lonely man, a widowed woman, a carefree boy, and a broken girl.
Gwendolyn was after the simple life that Catalina’s Valley could offer her and her two children, Daniel and Kelsey since moving there three months ago seeking a change in scenery and hoping it will heal them, she teaches at the local elementary school in town where both her children are enrolled.
Her daughter Kelsey suffers from what therapists call selective mutism, she blames herself for her fathers death and hasn't spoken since the day of his funeral.
A chance encounter at the local grocery has a stanger paying for her few items after realising she'd left her wallet on the kitchen counter at home, locking eyes on the stranger she doesn't see the scars like everyone else does. She sees a beautiful man with such sadness in his eyes.
She's heard the whispers around town towards the recluse with scars that mar most of his body but has never encountered him until now.
➽ We'll never forget the ones we love, they'll be with us always, but we need to learn to live without them, to not let the pain of their loss rule our lives.
Out visiting a close elderly friend with the kids outside of town she's unprepared for the thickness of the snow falling down and dodging a fox running out in front of her truck has her careening off the road. No phone coverage and clearly no surrounding houses in sight she's out of her mind with worry, luckily enough she's rescued by the beautiful man with the scars, unluckily for him they have to take up residence in his house for four days until the snow clears.
He's closed himself to outsiders for four years, ever since the death of his wife and child he's become a recluse. Having these little people and their mother in his space slowly thaws his heart.
This was such a poignant beautifully broken story, my heart was overrun with so many emotions, being a huge animal lover my heart was full, getting onto the characters they stole my heart and made it weep, imagine a mother going through what Gwen went through in this book, a daughter traumatised over her father's heart attack, forever blaming herself never to speak from his funeral onwards only to send unanswered whispers to god to bring him back tore at my heart like no other.
➽ Please, God, just let my daddy come home. And please tell him I'm sorry. I miss him so much. I just want to hug him again and tell him I love him. In Jesus's name, amen.
Then Alex pretty much stomped on it with his grief of holding himself responsible with the death of his wife and child forever bearing the scars on his body as a constant reminder of the day he lost not one love of his life but two.
Painstakingly slowly Alex and Kelsey slowly mend, piece by broken piece of themselves as they let the other in to throw some light onto the darkness that had engulfed them for so long.
A slow burn love rises up from the ashes between Gwen and Alex, I loved how she stayed vigilant in her stance to win him over, I loved the push and pull she garnered on his emotions. I loved how the author reeled me in and kept me eating up her words right till the end.
This gave me all those warm and fuzzy feels we all try and chase in a book, such a beautiful heartfelt rollercoaster of a ride
If you're after something a wee bit different and unique in every way I highly recommend this!!
