❀ ARC REVIEW ❀ SKATER BOY (PATCHWORK HOUSE #1) BY MARY CATHERINE Gebhard

Rebels. Misfits. Bad boys who rule the streets.
TITLE: Skater Boy
SERIES: PatchWork House #1
AUTHOR: Mary Catherine Gebhard
GENRE: Romance | Young Adult
PUBLICATION: April 25th, 2019
Synopsis
Rebels. Misfits. Bad boys who rule the streets. Everyone’s welcome at the worst kept secret in town, just as long as you don’t mind getting your reputation—and your heart—a little dirty.

Welcome to Patchwork House…

Patchwork House is a boy’s club—a mean boy’s club. They made an exception for Tweetie once, and they’re going to make another, because she’s coming home. After two years away and one too many broken hearts, Tweetie swore off skaters—but she never expected Flip.

Flip was the most famous skater in the world until he traded his place at Patchwork with the little girl whose life he ruined. Now Tweetie’s all grown up, and one chance encounter brings them together. He knows the right thing to do is disappear before things get ugly, but he never was very good at being good.

She’s back, and so is he—all bets are off. Nothing will stop this bad boy from finally getting his lost girl. They’re written in the stars, and it’s time she knows it.

The first lesson Flip taught Tweetie was how to fall.It was also the last thing she remembered when they met again, because she didn’t just fall for him.

She slammed.

Once upon a time, there was a land ruled by all-powerful and unyielding gods..

'Skater boy': Is the first, full length New Adult book in new to me author Mary Catherine Gebhard's ‘Patchwork house’ series. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.' This is Tweetie's and Flips story.

Patchwork House is one of the most notorious houses in Heaven Falls, housed by rebels, runaways and misfits. Housing Boys only. Until that all changed within a blink of an eye and they went against their rules and allowed a girl to move in. And the three surrogate boys who raised her. They were the rebel gods of Heaven Falls, and their religion was sin, debauchery, and corruption...and they were worshipped as they should be...

A girl given the nickname Tweetie "Look at that crazy blonde hair and those intense blue eyes," She's like fucking Tweetie bird."

Daniel was a legendary god within his own right, a street fighter to the core
King was the founder of the Patchwork House, he came from the good side of town and could've gone pro snowboarding but that's a topic not touched on.
Romeo was going places in the world with his punk rock.
And then there's Flip, the legendary skater boy and uber famous. The boy who stayed in the shadows. The boy who secretly loved a girl.

Tweetie left the safe haven they'd offered her after she graduated, two years go by and suddenly she's back, but Flip has also returned and things are going to get turned upside down.

I loved this unique storyline, a few tweaks and this would’ve been a 5 star read for me. In the beginning it was hard to get into because it started off in present time, making me question if there was a book before this, but that wasn’t the case, it flips from present to past, if you’re not paying attention to the chapter prompts you can easily become confused. I think it would’ve flowed better if it started in the past then worked its way to the present, because at times it was messy. But as I said a few tweaks and it would’ve easily slid into that 5 star slot. Another thing is the Heroine's nickname Tweetie should this be spelt Tweety? Like tweety bird.
